2004 SL55, 89,000 miles, $12k. I want this really bad but my wallet is crying out like no.

Do it. There is no need to restrain yourself from what will make you happy. Do it. Share lots of pics. Do it.

So I definitely shouldn’t tell you where you can get an E55 AMG for significantly less money ?

Ooooooooooh! I want that car!

Need AMG-Tech’s seal of approval on this one.

The wheels aren’t correct for the year. Do you know any indy mechanics who want a new boat? You can help them buy it.

What’s with the wig?
I think I need to call in for back up.

nonsense this is an excellent decision

Ignoring the high miles, the wing and the wig have both gotta go.

Don’t you know those are both rare, California-only options and that’s exactly why the wing doesn’t fit even close to right?!

Are these supposed to be unreliable
? Sorry I don’t know anything about AMGs, other than that you’re in for 16 spark plugs at a time.

I think it’s mostly the early 2000s MB electrics that are its Achilles heel.

Electrics? No. The R129 had the biodegradable wiring harness.
Hydraulics? Roof and suspension. You'll be cruising for a wallet bruising in the best way possible!

These were 6 figure cars when new, so nothing is going to be cheap to fix. ABC system seems to be the most common thing and it looks to easily be a 4 figure job. Next looks to be the pneumatic system for the doors and trunk and seats. There's probably others, those are just 2 of the main ones I came across.

But the pack of smokes on the console is just fine...

The engine will be just fine for many more miles with reasonable maintenance. In 2004, it was just everything else you had to worry about.

Ugh no that’s gotta go too, although I’m sure that smell won’t go so easily

Yeah. So I'll be the voice of reason: not no but hell no
